There are several options for MagSafe batteries, not sure what you mean by "smart" batteries. If I had a phone which had the MagSafe feature I would certainly want to get an external battery which can be attached this way, no more fussing around with c ables, you just hold the battery to the back of the phone and it snaps in place, what could be easier.
