One advantage of USBC over lightning is simply one cord for multiple
things. I've got bluetooth speakers, and bluetooth headsets that use
USBC for charging. I carry a portable power bank with me, and inside
the case of my power bank, I carry multiple cables, a lightning to
USBC cable to charge my iPhone, and another USBC to USBC cable to
charge other devices. If I had an iPhone with USBC, then I could
carry only one cable with me, that would charge my phone and other
things as well. The less cables you have to deal with, the better.
