I'm glad this topic came up as it motivated me to check out the voices in IOS 16.1. FYI, in case it is helpful, on my iPhone 8, Carolyn is missing a few steps. My steps to sample voices in IOS 16.1, on an iPhone 8, follow.
1. Open Settings (find the app and double tap, or ask Siri to open settings). 2. Swipe right to "Accessibility", and double tap. 3. Swipe right to "VoiceOver", and double tap. 4. Swipe right to "Speech", and double tap. 5. Swipe right to "Voice, Samantha" (Samantha is my chosen voice, so the word "voice" will be followed by whatever voice you use). 6. Swipe right to the voice of interest, and double tap. 7. Swipe up one time, where you will hear "Speak Sample", and double tap.
