Dan, I can't help with the renaming problem as I am still having that same issue myself. But when you say you are unable to edit a playlist do you mean you’re unable to delete songs? I can help you with that if that’s what you mean.
In order to remove songs from an existing playlist, first double tap the more button at the top of the screen. Once you have entered the playlist you want to edit. You will then see an edit button and you want to double tap that. Go down to the song that you want to remove and swipe up with one finger. I believe the first option is delete, and if you double tap, that song will be deleted from the playlist.
