No, it is not worth the upgrade. The SE 2022 has the iPhone 13 chip,
which is not much faster than the 11 or 12. The big change from the
11 to the 13 is 5g connectivity and most cell phone companies in the
United States have not deployed it in a way that it makes a difference
in the experience for nearly all iPhone users. They all have network
upgrade plans, but the promises of dramatic speed increases or vastly
greater coverage footprints have not materialized. The companies are
currently refusing to explain how their previous claims fail to match
today’s operations for most users.

Personally, I have turned off 5g on my 13 Mini and enjoy longer
battery life as a result. It only was available in downtown Chicago,
and I did not experience 5g in all parts but just some. iPhone
affordability is achieved when people hold onto their phones until iOS
can no longer be updated or even after iOS updates cease. For the
iPhone 6s that was seven years and it was six years for the iPhone 7.
Both are still reliable phones today, particularly if kept in an
indestructible Otterbox hard shell case. Apple makes highly durable
hardware that lasts for years. Your SE 2022 will still be useful and
functional well into the mid-2020s and beyond. Apple has some really
big changes planned for future phones. USBC will be in phones for next
year, although only the Pro will have the super-fast transfer rate.
In 2023 or 2024, iPhones will have the three nanometer chip, requiring
less power from the battery and significantly greater speed, enabling
the iPhone to perform even more complex tasks. Services like live
text, enhanced image description and LIDAR were either as a result or
fully enabled by the five nanometer chips introduced with the 12
series in 2020. Exciting new functionality is coming to the iPhone
and I am saving my pennies to run out and have the future in my hands
when it arrives.
