Hi everyone, I just found out that Wordle is accessible in The NYTimes app, and a friend is using it with safari. A browser add-on or bookmarklet used to be necessary, but it isn’t now. In the app, the tutorial still isn’t fully accessible, but the game is.
In case you don’t know. Each day Wordle picks a 5-letter word, and you have six tries to guess it. You type in your word using the keyboard at the bottom of the screen and press Return, which is in the lower left corner of the screen . (Backspace is in the lower right corner.) Voiceover tells you whether each letter is present, absent, or correct. When you touch a letter you used in a previous word while making your next guess, you also hear its status. This is handy if you try to use a letter you have already eliminated; you’re told it was absent. All your guesses are put in a grid near the top of the screen, with your first guess at the top. When you guess the word, VoiceOver says each letter is correct and then congratulates you. The game keeps track of your stats, and that information is also accessible. To play in the NYTimes app, open it and choose the Play tab. Wordle is the first game listed; choose the button to play the game. Then choose Play.
