Best option is to make sure "Code Scanner" is added to your control panel, you can check in Settings > Control Panel and if it si not in your list you can add it. Then swipe down from the top to bring up Control Centre, tap Code Scanner and point your rear camera towards the QR code. You typically don't have to be super close, once the camera sees it it will get recognized, there is nothing you have to do.
