The tabs at the bottom of Safari can also disappear. You can get them back by double tapping on the address bar. The address bar will say it’s collapsed when the tabs along the bottom have disappeared. They’ll also come back if you scroll to the top of the web page, which you can do by giving the status bar at the top of the screen focus and then double tapping.
