Is your IOS software up to date (i.e. version 16.3)? We recently dealt with a bug where calls/notifications weren't announced by voiceover, but fortunately the problem was eliminated via software update. I could be mistaken, but believe those using an iPhone 8 reported the problem was fixed for them as well. This may have nothing to do with your issue, but if you want to check on what version of IOS you have, do the following: 1. Open Settings. 2. Swipe right until you hear General; double-tap with one finger. 3. Swipe right until you hear Software Update; double-tap with one finger. 4. Swipe right until you hear what version of IOS you have. 5. Swiping right further will enable you to hear if IOS is up to date, etc.

If you have the ringer volume set too loud, you may not hear the caller ID even if it is being announced. Make sure your phone is not muted. Wake up your phone and unlock the screen. If it does not move, you might slide the switch down to hear "muted" and then slide it back up to hear "unmuted". This will confirm that the phone is not muted. Call your cell phone from a land line or get someone to call you to see if you now hear the caller ID. If you still do not hear the caller, check Settings. Go to Settings then Phone. Make sure that Announce Caller is set to Always. Then repeat the test to see if you hear the caller ID.
