Hello Andy, A subsequent post says that this prompt is to get you to use Face ID. I would not have come to that conclusion; although, it's as good of a reason as any, I suppose.
Here's the thing: Apple wants you to enable 2-factor authentication. So, my questions would be: 1. Do you have 2-factor authentication enabled? 2. Are you using either Face ID or Touch ID on the device in question? If the answer is no to either or both of these questions, then I would think that is the reason for the update settings prompt. If you answer, yes, to both questions, then I would suggest that you log out of your Apple account on all of your devices, then, log back in. Doing so, should eliminate the prompt. Oh, one more thing; this prompt may occur if any of your devices are not up-to-date with the device running the latest version of an OS.
