Well, the application to the best of knowledge does not have its own format, but instead can read PDF, Word and daisy files. (There are probably other formats too). Sighted people are very familiar with PDF and word files. The daisy format is essentially a precursor toe pub which is the format that Apple books uses. There are some differences, for example Daisy is usually distributed as a zip file that needs to be expanded into a folder before use while pub is a zip file that has been renamed to have an extension pub.
