Current users will be “GrandFathered in” so will not have to pay the subscription fee. New users, as of today, April 25th, 2023, will have to subscribe. The current price is $59.99 per year. That may go down in time. In my humble opinion, that is a very reasonable price for such a fabulous app. That works out to $5.00 per month. I have used Voice Dream Reader since its first year in the app store. I would gladly pay $59.99 per year because it is such a great app! I just want the app to continue to improve, which I believe it will. Here is a statement from the new owner/developer of Voice Dream Reader: When a new user downloads the app, they will see a subscription screen that explains the app a bit more, the price and a button to start a free trial. An important difference between the paid upfront and the subscription model is that we'll be offering a free trial, so anyone can try the app and see if it's worth it for them without spending any money. The free trial will be 7 days as of the date a new user starts using the app. The support email will continue to be [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> the Applause Group purchased the app and the brand from Winston Chen so the contact email won’t change. For those who also use, or will use, the Scanner and Writer apps from Winston, they will remain his property and will be renamed to VDScan and VDWrite and will not be subscriptions. The new names will probably show up in the app store in a week or so. Winston’s new company will be named Opus Noma.
