Here is how to take a screen shot on any iPhone with a home button. I don't know if it is required, but I recommend that you make sure the screen curtain is off before taking a screen shot. Turn the screen curtain on or off with a 3 finger triple-tap.
Press the power button and home button at the same time. You will hear the camera click. Wait just a few seconds, and the screen shot will be in the photo library.
