A mesh system with the main router and 1 satellite should cover two floors nicely. Eero and TP-Link I believe are some of the more reasonably priced systems, Google Mesh is also supposed to be quite good; Netgear Orby is highly rated and as I said based on myown experience I am partial to it. Then there are also others like the Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Machine, but it is not nearly as easy to set up.

They have a 3600 SQFT house, two levels. Brick construction. Main ATT router is in living room. Upstairs is the week signal spot. I’ve thought of getting me a mesh system as well especially for my outside Ring. Is it a single floor, basement and main floor, basement, amin floor and another level? What is the construction, e.g. wood frame with drywall or more solid walls like brick? All of this is important, in most homes which are 1200 or 1400 square feet even if that is per level, e.g. a 1200 main floor and a 1200 basement for a total space of 2400 square feet a regular router is sufficient. Having said this I chose also to put a Netgear Orby mesh router in our house which is only 2,200 square feet. I have the main router in the utility room downstairs which is at the front corner of the house and the satellite in our bedroom which is at the very back of the house. This way I don't only get perfect Wi-Fi coverage anywhere in the house, but also in our garden out backa nd in the front yard. We have a greenhouse which is probably about 25 feet from the back of the house and I never have issues there with our Netatmo Weather Station moddule dropping off or if I bring my Sonos Move there. Similarly, if I go out the front I can already be across the street and a house away before I loose my Wi-Fi. I also have the Pro version of Netgear Orby at my retail store. I bought it years ago at my old store which was 4,000 square feet, but on two floors so 2,000 square feet per floor. This is also the main unit and 1 satellite. 3 years ago I bought a new building which is 6,500 square feet and before we moved I bought a second satellite thinking I would need it. The building is about 60 feet wide and 110 feet long and I have the main router right in the middle going the 60 feet, so about 30 feet from each side of the store. Front to back it is right at the end of the actual retail floor which is about 30 feet from the back and 80 feet from the front of the store. I then put the satellite right up by the sales counter which is also exactly in the middle from left to right and maybe 20 feet from the front. This means the main router and the satellite are about 60 feet apart. This gives me 3 out of 3 bars anywhere in the store and I never ended up setting up the second satellite, it's still in the box and I really should sell it, but just never got around to it. I think Netgear says mostly their Orby system with 1 satellite is good for about 6,000 square feet and then if you add a second satellite you are good to about 9,000 square feet. My next router upgrade will be a system which supports Wi-Fi 6/6E or better even 7 and this is why I am still waiting because Wi-Fi 7 is just starting to gain more traction. Right now the Netgear Orby which supports Wi-Fi 6 is super expensive at I think around $2,000 here in Canada but I am sure those prices will come down. All they own are ipads and iPhones. I’m going to be the one configuring and keeping it up. So looking for something accessible.. and easy for them who are not high tech to handle if I’m not around.
