If you refer to Voice Dream Reader which I assume you are after your dogged campaign to try and convince people your app is vbetter then I can report that after upgrading to iOS 17 public beta yesterday I just tried it and the app opened without crashing. I didn't do a lot in it, but I did have an audio book loaded and started playing it, skipped forward and backward a bit and all was working normally.

There are several features that might be of interest of VoiceOver users. You can set sentence pause and pitch for each voice. There is the option to read aloud the web page from Safari. One popular accessibility app is crashing on start, but people don't like when I mention it so you will have to hear which one it is from someone else. But as far as I remember it was crashing on each beta thus far so nothing unexpected, just it might be important if you want to use it as the daily driver. I haven't seen any other app to crash thus far. Certainly you can't expect beta to be bug free and it may get worse on your device, but this beta is fairly close to being daily driver unlike for example iOS 16 early betas. This is very close to the iOS 16 launch quality level (which was very bad for the official version). Also there are some things with Siri cutting off and not completing things. I’ve also had issues with alarms and such being silent even though volume is up and the mute switch is o not on. Also, I agree .. that as with most of the betas the battery life is poor. If it’s your main device, I would be careful about moving to it, cause one you do .. you can’t go back .. One thing you have to remember is that if you put iOS 17 public beta or any early public beta on your primary phone that you have to be willing to expect problems. This could be small stuff, but it could also mean that certain apps you use crash and are unusable until the developer updates them or something in iOS 17 is changed. It May mean more battery drain and this is certainly something I have read about in connection with iOS 17. Another issue some people seem to experience is that the Messages app is very sluggish. Also, ifyou do go ahead you should be willing and able to send feedback to Apple when you run into an issue so they can look into it and if you feel it concerns a particular app you should also contact the developer of the app to let them know. One thing I heard about for Voiceover users is that drag and drop currently does not work; this seems to have been fine in the first developer betas and may possibly have only been introduced in this first public beta release although once again, it may not be an issue for all users. Hi all, I read an article by Kim Komando about the public beta being out now. She obviously didn't talk about any accessibility aspects of 17. I am just wondering if 17 is worth the upgrade or not for VO users. I haven't used betas in IOS before but was kind of toying with the idea this go round. Have any of you tried it yet? Is there anything in 17 worth our serious consideration? Thanks. -- Dan Beaver (KA4DAN) USA -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
