So, if 16 is the height, 12 the depth, and 8 the width, did you have the
hole cut in the middle of the 8 inch side including the flap in determining
the middle?

Here are the dimensions of the box.
16 x 8 x 12 inches.

40 x 20 x 30 cm (but I don't trust Hugh's conversion there!)

    Either way, this just happened to arrive today, it may not be the 
optimum size, but it works for me and to show this, here is another 
offering. This time it is from a leaflet, that I folded open so that just 
one page was showing. I think it is about an a4 or letter size for those 
across the pond. It is from an information flyer re travelling with a Guide 
or Assistance Dog.
