It isn't terribly straight forward. Tab t until you get to a spot that says features. You will either be on messages or calls. Use your left or right arrow to move between them. If on messages, tab a couple of times maybe and you should land on a new message button. Hit space or enter. You can enter a name from your contacts, or I suspect a phone number, and you will likely need to arrow down to what you want and hit enter. Then you will be in an edit box where you type your message. If you hit enter, it will send what you have typed.
>From features, if you arrow to calls, then tab, you should find recent calls, >then you can tab to a box to search your contacts. I find I end up hitting >enter and it calls. Tab and you will find an end call button, hopefully... I have not found any hotkeys for this.
