I also use bsi to type if it is more than a word or two. I find, for the most part, that it is accurate, but the longer a message gets, the more errors it tends to make. I use it in screen away mode, and find that I have to be careful to make sure my phone is absolutely straight, even a degree or two offf will start it making more errors than usual. Sometimes, when it starts making errors, unlocking, then relocking orientation will fix it. In case you don't know how to do that within bsi, it is a three-finger swipe down. I do not know why the following works, maybe it cleans out the memory or something, but sometimes when it starts making more errors than usual, I just type a bunch of random letters together, then do the word backspace, two finger swipe left, to erase the garbage I just typed, and it fixes it. Also, I have found that a lighter touch helps. I have to remind myself, I am not writing on a Perkins brailler. Finally, make sure the screen is clean.

I would encourage others, if you have encountered the same issue, to also send a message so it can be addressed in a future update. I got the standard confirmation reply that they got my message, and would forward my feedback to the appropriate team. *** Greetings. I sent a message last week which in part talked about difficulties using Braille Screen Input (BSI) on my iPhone. I am blind and use VoiceOver on an iPhone 13 Pro running iOS 16.6. My problems with BSI are becoming more pronounced. I am having trouble making certain letters. For instance, when trying to write an "S", often an R or P is inserted. Or, when trying to Braille a T, a Q is written instead. Finally, the word "and" often appears when I try to write "the". BSI is my primary input method when writing texts, emails, or entering text in other parts of the operating system. I am having to go back and make more corrections, or even send the email on my computer. I am writing this message on a computer, since I don't trust BSI reliably enough to do it on the phone. Please consider taking a look at this issue. I don't use Siri or Voice Control, mostly because I have a lower-pitched voice and Siri has a hard time understanding me. So, BSI is my main method of writing on the phone. Sending an email from the computer works for that task, but when I encounter these letter interpreting issues with BSI repeatedly, I often resort to the virtual keyboard and predictive text. This alternative is inconvenient for longer messages. -- Wayne Merritt Certified JAWS 2023 Trainer https://www.freedomscientific.com/certification Connect with me on GoodReads: www.goodreads.com/waynesbooks -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
