That is always how I do it, I open the chat I have going with the person I want to call, let's assume his name is John Smith, then along the top I have the following:
Chats, back button - at the very top left, I now swipe right and get: Profile Picture - I swipe right again John Smith, last seen today at 6:18 AM (that is of course just an example and you'll see whatever the last time was when the person was active), swipe right Video Call - swipe right Voice Call You can also touch the screen at the top right where you find the Voice Call button and then swipe left once to Video Call. If you have called somebody before you can also go to the Calls tab and swipe down on somebody's name and you then get the following options: Delete - clears the entry from the call history More Info Activate - this will immediately start a call to that person and I believe it will call whichever way you called last, e.g. if the call was a voice call it will start a voice call, if the call was a video call it will start a video call. If you double tap on "More Info", you get the person's contact info and the following options: Profile Picture John Smith +1 followed by their phone number Message Audio Video About - this will show their about/status message, e.g. "Hello, I am on WhatsApp" Then follows a listing of your calls with date, time and duration. If you do start a video call you then have options on the screen to flip from front to back camera and all that, basically same as with Facetime, just maybe slightly different wording and how the items are arranged.
