I am not sure why this doesn’t work for you, as long as you have enabled two-factor authentication correctly and you have the actual Google app this should work, it does for me and it’s pretty straight forward. I have my Microsoft account set up for this as well and in that case it uses the Microsoft Authenticator app and it’s the same thing, an alert will pop up near the top left where the banners are or you can swipe down from the top and get to the notification centre and find it thee, then make sure you first check what the number is they want, let’s say it’s 64, then double tap on the alert or the notification and approve the sign in. If a number is asked for, you will find 3 numbers on the screen and the correct one is one of them and obviously it will be either the first, the one in the middle or the last. So, you may have something like 11, 64, 43 or 64, 27, 85 and you just tap on 64 whatever the arrangement is. If you can’t figure it out, you can always call Google Accessibility support which you can do via the specialized help section in the Be My Eyes app. I just tried again to remind myself of the flow. I signed out of my Google account on my PC, then I clicked on “Sign In”. Here is what I get:
Sign in - Google Accounts heading level 1 Verify it’s you [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> To help keep your account secure, Google needs to verify it’s you. Please sign in again to continue. Next. Button I then activated the next button and got this: Sign in - Google Accounts heading level 1 Hi Sieghard Link [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> selected. Switch account heading level 2 Open the Google app on iPhone Google sent a notification to your iPhone. Open the Google app and tap Yes on the prompt to verify it’s you. Resend it, Button Try another way, Button As soon as this message came up I heard a notification from Google on my iPhone pop up which said the following: Google Are you trying to sign in? [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Device Windows NT 10.0 Near Kitimat, BC, Canada Time Just now No, don't allow, button Yes, it's me, button In this case I didn’t have to confirm a particular number, they don’t do this all the time, I simply tapped on “Yes, it’s me” and I was instantly signed in on my computer with the following message on the screen: Google Account You’re signed in [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> heading level 1 Complete a few suggestions to get the most out of your Google account Complete a few suggestions to get the most out of your Google account list of 3 items Add or confirm your recovery email or phone number Button Add a profile picture Button Sign up to get useful tips & updates, Button heading level 1 You can always manage this information in your heading level 1 Link Google Account Not now Button In this case I tapped “Not Now” since I didn’t want to change or update anything. Finally, I signed out one more time to see what happens if I tap the “Try another way, Button” instead of sending it to the Google app for approval. Here I had the following: Sign in - Google Accounts heading level 1 Hi Sieghard Link [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> selected. Switch account heading level 2 Choose how you want to sign in: list of 3 items Link Tap Yes on your phone or tablet Link Enter your password For some reason I didn’t even have a choice to send a code by text, but I assume that possibly this would have been offered if I had selected to “Enter your password” since I do have 2-factor authentication turned on so just entering my password wouldn’t be enough. From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Jim Portillo Sent: Sunday, October 8, 2023 10:06 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Issue with Signing Into Google Apps on the iPhone Hi everyone, Here’s an interesting issue I’m not able to work around, and I’ve tried a few things. I upgraded to the new iPhone 15 Pro at the end of September, and I really like how it’s working. I tried signing into YouTube TV on my app. I had to sign into my google account. When I entered my password, it went to a new Two-step Authentication process, which doesn’t seem to work at all. It told me to open the google app and tap “yes” on a message that would pop up. I also noticed that if I told it to “re-send”, the button was unavailable. That’s what VoiceOver said.\ There was nothing in the google app when I opened itup. Then again, I hadn’t signed into my google account there yet. I thought perhaps it would work better if I actually signed into my google account on the google app. It did the same thing. I was signing up, and it told me to open my google app and tap something there. It’s weird and hard to open an app that you’re already trying to sign into for a two-step authentication. Now, in the two-step process, there was another option to get the code or message a different way, so I tried doing that and choosing to get a verification code by text via my phone. However, I was told that the option was unavailable because there were stronger ways of signing in, and it basically took me back to getting the message from the actual Google app. Oh, I also tried signing into Google using Safari, and it gave me the same message about opening the Google app and tapping on something in that message. So basically, I’m not able to sign into any of my Google apps on my new phone because of this two-step process. I wouldn’t mind the process, but I need to actually get into what they want. Any ideas? Thanks for any help or advice. Jim -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
