On your phone when in iMovie, you double tap on start new projects, and then
double tap on The very bottom where it says make a movie with the iMovie
timeline. After that, as you are flicking from the top of the screen, you will
see select, followed by choices that the app gets from the Photos app where
your videos are. I don’t have ones available to go through the steps exactly,
but when you have chosen your clips, I believe at the bottom it should say
create movie, and you will see how many minutes your project is. You can share
your movie, but typically not in Mail, given I’d say it can’t handle much
beyond three minutes unless you do the iCloud link which I’ve not done, but
by mail you could share a YouTube link, which you would start off doing by
sharing from iMovie. In share where it says save, puts your completed project
in the photos app. In iMovie itself, YouTube is not one of the share options,
which is why you have to do it this way.

YouTube has changed some things, such that with my two recent projects it’s
like I’m still figuring it out; it used to be simpler. You go to the create tab
at the bottom, Make sure you select video as opposed to a short, after which
when you have given YouTube access to Photos, there is a list of what photos
and videos there are, so you would choose your video based on how long iMovie
told you your project is, then follow the prompts about putting in a title,
description, etc., then double tapping the upload button, after which in
options you could share the link via email or text message, etc.
