Correction when you double tap a message it focuses on the most recent
message. You will have to swipe left to see earlier messages from that same
person.

What you do is double tap on the unread message, then you can swipe right
to move through the messages until you get to the last one. Another thing
you can do is start from the bottom of the screen where it says “Text field
edit”, then swipe left to hear the rest of the messages.
