And also, I did manage to find System Update in the new app on the iPad and when I double tapped "Check for updates" I was told that my system did not need to be updated which indicates that this is entirely an app/user interface update and does not involve any firmware update of the Sonos speakers. Therefore, for the time at least even if you do turn on automatic updates in your old Sonos app and the speakers get an update, this should not affect the app or force you to update to the new app. Just make sure you don't have automatic app updates turned on or accidently tap on "update all" and you should be fine using the fully accessible Sonos app until hopefully Sonos comes to their senses. Of course it will definitely not hurt to continue bugging them about this terrible decision to release such a big UI update without making sure it is fully accessible. It would be great if somebody could contact reputable organisations like Engadget, What HiFi, 9to5Mac and so on to see if they wouldn't jump in by publishing articles about this.

I had my sighted wife look at it and without Screen Recognition, many things that VoiceOver will speak if you swipe to it, is not visible on the screen. And, as I think Jonathan Mosen had mentioned, double tapping on the Your System button does nothing. And, if my wife touched where it shows Your system button, VoiceOver says nothing. If I then swipe with one finger, it lands on the Your System Button, but again, it doesn’t activate. I will do more exploring with the Screen Recognition on, but unless you want a totally frustrating experience, don’t update. I updated on my iPad Mini 6 which I seldom use with Sonos.
