I had been in touch with somebody at Sonos back in 2010 and with all these new
Sonos app issues I decided to take a chance and send her a message. It turned
out that she is still with Sonos and she is now Vice President, Global Consumer
Direct. Below is her reply to my message in which I was not all that subtle
about how I felt by this stupid move to release such an update without making
it first accessible:

Hi Sieghard,

Sorry for the delay in response. I wanted to connect with our product
leadership team ahead of responding.

They have confirmed that key experience benefits for our visually impaired user
community remain a top priority, and their goal is to ensure the new app not
only reaches parity with previous versions, but hopefully improves upon the
experience over time.

That being said, some of those accessibility features will be rolled out in
upcoming releases, along with a number of additional features that weren't
included in the initial release. The current estimation is the app will be at
full parity within the next 8 weeks. We also expect to release a key update on
May 21st that will address some of the biggest gaps that were highlighted in
the article you shared.

is the "official" company position that was shared yesterday with our online
Community.

I appreciate you reaching out to me directly, and want you to know I am always
available to receive and discuss feedback you have related to your personal
Sonos experience. We value your business and long term customer status!

Best,
Lindsay

Keith N, Sonos Staff
At Sonos, we take accessibility seriously and aim to build listening
experiences that everyone can enjoy.
The redesigned Sonos app was built from the ground up to support both modern
and future Sonos experiences, and as part of that, we'll be implementing
ongoing improvements and enhancements over time. On May 7, the app will have
basic support for screen readers, allowing you to swipe through and read
through all items on the screen. Following launch, ongoing improvements to the
accessibility of the updated mobile app will remain a top priority. A software
release available May 21 will improve screen readers so you can select items on
screen in any order. Further improvement will be added to the experience
regularly until we reach parity with the S2 app by late June.
In the meantime, the Sonos Windows and Mac applications will continue to
operate as normal until our new web app has met our accessibility standards.
Thank you for your patience as we continuously improve the accessibility of the
Sonos app.
