This morning, I sent a text, and add contact gave me my contact list, where I flicked down and double tapped on my contact. She had only one number, but if more, I could just double tap on the number of my choice. Incidentally, on this subject, a guy on another list said you could ask Siri to send an audio message, and your dictation would be received by the recipient. You either use the contacts name or phone number. when you use the name as you start typing it will offer suggestions.
