The Kindle app on iOs works very well with VoiceOver. I have well over two thousand Kindle books on my iPhone. I can read them using my Braille display connected via Bluetooth to my iPhone. Also, I can simply have VoiceOver read the book continuously. I wrote instructions on this in my own free book. The Kindle app has a menu system for navigating a book. Once you open a book, the text totally covers the screen. Double tapping on it will bring up the menu. Use the "close book" option to return to the library. The "exit" option gets you out of the menu and back into the book text. There's a table of contents menu within the main menu which lets you jump around in the book. Lots of othr nice features as well. The rotor works too so you can move by character, word, and line to find out how things are spelled. A two finger swipe downward on the book text will start continuous reading. Hope that gets you started.
