AirTags use a wideband Bluetooth protocol that’s fairly directional, and for iPhones, newer than the iPhone 12 you should be able to clearly closely detect the location of the AirTag without sound. The iPhone vibrates when you pointed in the direction of the AirTag.

in that case I would recommend you put it in like a side pocket made of mesh, or a front pocket if you don't want to get clips for them, not sure how hard it will be to track if the AirTag is buried in a suitcase.

I am not sure how to answer your question. I imagine it difficult to work. This device is too tiny and its antenna may not pick up the signals inside a suitcase. Also if you are looking for your item, you may not be able to hear the sound if
it is hidden inside a suitcase or backpack.

Well, thanks for answering the questions about the AirTags as far as attaching them couldn’t I just throw one in to say a backpack or something like that or into a suitcase and it still be able to be tracked without the case question from Mich

Yes you have to activate each of them individually. You also need to buy each of them a holder with a ring to be able to attach to your suitcases or the items you need to track. What you get is just the tag itself which is a tiny little round
device, but what to do with it if you have no case witha ring or a clip to attach to items?

Hi all I am planning a trip and have invested in a pack of 4 air tags for the trip. I have all ready watched a video on how to activate them with vo. My question is do you have to activate every one individualy?? If so
