I can't speak for the Light Detector app, but you could just use the Seeing AI
app which has a Light Detector channel and of course it has all the other stuff.
May I ask why you choose to have 2 iPhones or actually 3 from the sound of it,
but no Wi-Fi? Is there no fiber or cable internet service available where you
live?
I have family who live in a very remote location of Northern British Columbia
and for many years they used their phones and the hotspot feature to connect to
the internet with laptop and so on, but they now all have Starlink because in
my opinion you never get as seemless of an experience using an iPhone as a
hotspot as you do if you have a high speed internet connection and a good
router which can support both wired and wireless connections. And of course if
you ever want to use things like an Apple TV or home automation devices like
door locks, doorbell or security cameras, Wi-Fi enabled thermostats, switches
etc. Wi-Fi is pretty much a requirement. I honestly could never even remotely
see myself not wanting to have a fast fiber internet connection and a good
router, in my case we use a Netgear Orby mesh router with 1 satellite and even
though I bought it in October of 2018, almost 6 years ago, it has never failed
or let me down. All my Sonos speakers and home automation devices are connected
and are stable and rock solid. I have it set to do automatic firmware updates
and probably only ever log into it a couple of times a year for whatever
reason. Same applies to my business where I have the same router but the
Pro/business model, also bought just about at the same time. It just works as
Steve Jobs used to say.

Take care,
Sieghard

Subject: Light Detector app gone?

Have any of you tried to download the Light Detector app lately? With me here
in the United States, I’m no longer able to get it from the app store, although
I am still able to use it on two of my three iPhones.

When I couldn’t get any service on my iPhone 13 Mini on Tuesday, but I could
get service on the 12 Mini, I somehow thought the problem was on my end and
erased the 13 Mini and then restored it using the quick startup feature with my
still working iPhone 12 Mini. Since all of my iPhones are set to be as much
alike as their software will allow, I could do that. And while I still had no
service on that iPhone after the first restore, I erased and tried again. And
by that time, apparently AT&T had resolved the issue and I once again had
service, but the Light Detector app just wasn’t available to me anymore. I was
kind of surprised, though, as the app had indeed been available when I set up
my iPhone 15 Pro in early June, but I was now told that the app was no longer
available in the app store.

A couple of side notes here, just because. I still thought the problem was with
my 13 Mini until I got a text message from AT&T today saying I would get a
credit because of the outage on Tuesday. I then went and looked on the web and
saw the story about the network issues on Tuesday.

Also, although I’m still using my two iPhone Mini phones right now, my iPhone
15 Pro is all set up and ready to go once my iPhone 12 Mini battery gets to 80%
and I send it back to Apple for an Apple gift card. Both of my Mini phones are
showing the battery at 81% right now, so maybe I should go ahead and put in
that request before the new iPhones come out and the trade-in values get lower.
And, grin, I’m thinking my 13 Mini will likely take its trip to Apple a little
after Black Friday.

Oh, one more thing, while I’m at it. As to why I have two active iPhones
instead of just the one, remember, I don’t have any separate internet or cable
here, which is my choice, but that means that anything I do along those lines
is done with my iPhone, whether it be streaming or personal hotspot or
whatever. And since I use the iPhone for practically everything, just one won’t
last me all day, thus I want to have an iPhone available to move around with me
while the other one is charging.
