I don't know if you have to do this when you first start using BSI, but if not, I'd suggest calibrating. I just used table top mode for the first time in a long time, and it was pretty frustrating until I remembered to calibrate. To calibrate, you hold the three fingers of your left hand down in either table top or away mode. After you get the beeps and vibrations, you do the same thing with your right hand.
