I was having a lot of trouble until I put my 16 pro into a case. Without a case those extended bezels were a real PITA.

If you have a case on the phone, it is very difficult to accidently touch the camera control area as it has an open slot like where the power port is located, only longer of course. When using BE My Eyes a couple of times VO said “camera in use” which I think meant I somehow got my finger in that slot, but it didn’t effect my ability to touch the screen. Given that inadvertent contact with the screen edges can trigger the system to temporarily ignore all new touches, the thinner bezels on the new iPhone 16 models may have exacerbated the problem, making it easier for users to unintentionally trigger the rejection mechanism when gripping their devices.
