I’m not sure there was much of any difference between the 13 and 14 when it came to microphones, but that seems like a goo good excuse to use.
There are extra microphones in the 16 pro, mostly for phone calls and I guess video recording; but maybe it will be done by Christmas, then again … Richard, “Reality is the leading cause of stress for those who are in touch with it.” – Jane Wagner, from The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe. Richard, Sonos announced that iOS 18 supports Trueplay, but it is completely normal that trueplay is not available right away when Applew releases a new iPhone because Sonos does not have access to the new iPhones prior to anybody else hence they can’t test and configure this to work with whatever apple improves or changes with the microphones and all that. Expect that this could take several more months, here for example is an article from Mac Rumors in 2022 about Trueplay on the iPhone 14, the article was written on December 12, 2022 and Mac Rumors confirmed that Trueplay was now working on the iPhone 14 series of phones and of course we all know that they were released in September of 2022 so it took Sonos basically 3 months to support Trueplay on the iPhone 14: Sonos Trueplay Now Works With iPhone 14 Models - MacRumors <https://www.macrumors.com/2022/12/12/sonos-trueplay-iphone-14-support/> From: 'Richard Turner' via VIPhone <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > Sent: Sunday, October 13, 2024 10:59 AM To: [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> Subject: Sonos True Play Tuning is incompatible with iPhone 16 series, really?! I needed to redo the True Play Tuning for my livingroom setup. I have been using the Sonos app on my 16 pro with no problems as far as playing things, adjusting volume, etc. I went to do the True Play Tuning because part of the system had gotten unplugged. When I got into the True Play Tuning, it said, your device is not compatible with True Play Tuning… I went through the more info and discovered it said that it is not compatible with some iOS devices and mentioned it wouldn’t work with devices using the beta, but my iPhone 16 pro is not on the beta. Then at the end, it listed a bunch of iPads and all the 16 pones as not compatible. Out of curiosity, I opened the Sonos app on my iPad Mini 6 which is on the iOS 18.1 public beta. True Play Tuning worked, even though it is running a beta. If this doesn’t underline how out of touch with reality Sonos is, I don’t know what would. Not only did they not prepare for the iPhone 16’s which they, and the rest of the world, have known were coming for months; but they claim devices running betas are not compatible; yet they are. Maybe by the time iOS 18.1 is released to the public, they will have sorted this out; but somehow I doubt that. After all, that is only a few weeks or less, and it is seeming to take them months to fix anything… Richard, “Reality is the leading cause of stress for those who are in touch with it.” – Jane Wagner, from The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe.
