I have the iPhone 10r with 18.1. I've noticed that if I respond to a message and close the messages app, voiceover loses focus when I try to open messages, I've rebooted my phone twice, and voiceover doesn't speak when I double tap on messages. I have the iPhone 10r, I've restarted my phone three times, and that didn't make a difference.
