We have a GE Café series range with two ovens and while the induction cooktop
has regular dials, the only way to control the ovens is via a touchscreen. I
also use the Smart HQ app and in some ways it has actually become better and I
would agree that it works well, however, I still don’t understand why not all
functions of the oven are available in the app. For example, I can select
either the upper or lower oven and I can then select the temperature and also
the mode, e.g. bake, convection bake, roast etc. I can also set a timer and
obviously press start. However, the lower oven has additional “options” like
proof (for letting yeast dough rise), and there is also the self-clean option
and probably a few others I can’t remember. Either they are so hidden in the
app that I can’t find them, but I really believe they are simply not available
from the app.

As for Siri integration that is not an option, however, you are supposed to set
up Alexa to work with it. I tried and in the very beginning I sort of got it
working for a bit, but when I tried it again a while back I added the skill,
but it somehow wasn’t working.

There also is the little issue that in order for Smart HQ to work with the oven
(not sure how it is with other appliances), on my oven I have to press an
“enable Wi-Fi” or something like that. This is of course on the touchscreen,
but when we first got the oven about four and a half years ago my wife put a
tactile dot just above where you have to touch and I can locate it and then
just lightly touch elow it, there is a series of beeps and it’s usually not too
difficult to get it to where the app then sees the oven. Maybe on newer models
or other appliances this is no longer required.

Subject: Re: Accessible Washer/Dryer - Siri

The smart HQ app is accessible. I use that for my one and done washer dryer
combo. And I really love it.

I know there have been some discussions in the past regarding Washer and Dryer
sets that could be controlled with apps from an IPhone. With that sort of
stuff constantly changing, wondering if anyone has had any recent experiences
.. and how that goes .. ease of use .. accessibility of the apps and such ..
Siri integration ..

Thanks in advance ..
