Not sure if this works in Windows 10, but if you are using Windows 11 just
press enter to open the HEIC file, it will open in the Photos app, if it asks
you which app to use, select Photos.
Once the file is open, tab until you hear "More Options and press enter, the
first open is Save As, press enter again
Now you are in a fairly standard Save As dialogue with focus in the file name
field, I would give it a different name so it's easier to tell the difference
between the original HEIC file and JPG file you are now saving.
Now press tab and you will hear "Save As Type: .heic, 1 of 9 combo box"
Press Alt + Down arrow to open the combox box although here just down arrow
also works, you will hear the following:
Open List Box, .HEIC, 1 of 9 - now press down arrow again and you hear:
.jpg, 2 of 9 - press enter to select the JPG format and close the combo box
Press tab, I think twice, until you get to "Save' and activate it with Enter or
Spacebar. By default it should save the JPG file in the same folder as your
HEIC file, but you can of course press tab a few more times until you get to
the folder treeview and select a different folder. Very rarely I find it hasn't
actually saved the JPG formatted file and I have to do it again, that is partly
why I recommend a different file name which seems to help and also actually
tabbing yto the Save button and activating it seems to be more reliable then to
press ente ror Alt + S.

Alternatively, do a Google search for "Convert HEIC to JPG" and you'll find all
sortf of online converters. I am partial to the ILoveIMG.com site because there
is also an ILovePDF.com site which I use a lot if I want to merge multiple PDF
files into a single PDF or if sometimes a supplier sends me 2 or 3 invoices all
in one PDF file and I want to split theminto separate PDF files. I just check
first how many pages the original PDF is, say it's 4 and I then find that the
first invoice is a single page, the second is on page 2 and 3 and the last
invoice is page 4. In ILovePDF you select that you want to split a PDF, then
you click the "Choose File" button and browse to your file and upload it, then
you set the first range, in this case page 1 to 1, then you add the second
range, in this example page 2 to page 3 and lastly you add another range which
is page 3 to 3. When done click Split and a zipped file will automatically
download to you rdownloads folder which contains the 3 files which I can then
rename and save. It's all super accessible and so is the version which allows
you to convert all sorts of image files because the HEIC to JPG option is only
one of nmany choices. Here is Jaws history from the site, I tried it to make
sure it works, my HEIC file is called Test HEIC:

Convert HEIC to JPG online for free - this is the title of the page and I now
press H for heading:
Convert HEIC to JPG, heading level 1 - I now press B to find buttons because I
know what I am looking for is a button:
Choose Files: No file chosen Button - press spacebar or enter to activate and
an open file dialogue appears:
Open dialog, File name: edit combo
I usually press Shift + Tab a couple of times until I get into the list viwew
of whatever folder I am in or one more time to get to the folder treeview where
I can select the folder I want, here I happen to be in the right folder so I
press spacebar to select the "Test HEIC" file as it says "not selected".
Not Selected Test HEIC - I press spacebar and then tab forward again past the
file name box which now contains the file to the "Open" button
File name: edit combo, Test HEIC - keep pressing tab:
Files of type: Combo box, Custom files, 1 of 2
Upload from mobile Button - I tab past that:
Open Button - activate it with spacebar or enter
Convert HEIC to JPG online for free - Microsoft Edge - Personal - Jaws reads
the website title again, but I press Control to stop it reading more.
I assume I am looking for another button to start the conversion so I again try
"b" to quickly navigate to any buttons and I get:
Convert to JPG Button - if I arrow past it I hear "All images will be converted
to JPG."
I activate the button and the image is converted and automatically downloaded
which you can verify by checking your downloads folder, if I go to mine I have:
Test HEIC, 7 of 7, Date modified 12/‎1/‎2024 ‏‎11:39 AM, Type JPG File

Take care,
Sieghard
