Actually, you can use Siri to make a call by saying “Hey Siri” when you wear the glasses. Siri responds for me just fine and I can ask it whatever I want to do inbncluding to ask Siri to make a call. Of course saying “Hey Meta” call “Contact Name”” also works. I did not try Hey Meta with saying a phone number, but this works if you bring up Siri and ask it to “call” followed by the number. Also, it is not only WhatsApp which can be used for video calls, Facebook Messenger also supports video calls with the glasses.

Just one point that I wanted to make, when you receive a call on your iPhone and do a two finger double tap on the iPhone. It will pick up on the iPhone. In order for your call to be picked up by glasses or external speakers or anything like that, you need to pick them up With the glasses or speaker. So with the metaclasses you could either say hey Meta answer call or do a one finger double tap on the touchpad on the right side.
