I got so frustrated with this, them just leaving the packages anywhere, and
sometimes not leaving them if there was no car in front of our apartment. I
went on Amazon and bought a sign that says please leave all packages here, they
have several different ones to choose from. They don’t cost that much, I bought
the ones with the self adhesive to put on my front door. That’s not to say
that they will actually leave the packages, but I have put a sign up there
telling them to do so.

Some time in the past we must have asked that packages be left in our spare
dustbin at the front and now we get e-mail/text confirmations of delivery, we
know to look there.
Could this possibly be a solution for those who live in apartments? That being,
to have a designated bin out front (probably with your name on) and direct that
packages be left there? At least you would then know where to look.
