Since I started using the spotlight search, I almost never go into the App Library anymore. On your home screens, right above the dock, is a control that you can use to switch between pages by flicking up or down. If you double tap on it, you end up in the spotlight search, and if you start typing, it'll start pulling up matching apps. Once the app you want is on the top, you can just hit the go button and it'll bring up the app. There might also be a VoiceOver gesture that brings up the spotlight search.
