I believe you can use Copilot on the phone without signing into your Microsoft
account, but if you want it to remember your chats on both your computer and
the phone apps, you would want to sign in.

Of course, just try Copilot without signing in and see what happens.

Subject: RE: Linking ChatGPT and Copilot

You are asking a lot of questions in some ways and are proposing things which
aren't strictly doable as far as I know, here are my thoughts on what you said:

I know I created a ChatGPT free account last year when I got the app for the
phone. I can’t remember the password for it, and can’t find a record of what I
chose.
Then simply tap on "Forgot Password" and you can create a new one following the
instructions which typicially are received by email.

I am intending to link it to the Apple Intelligence on my 15 Pro.
Tjhis is where I think what you want to do is not really possible, Apple
Intelligence is a stand-alone service which has no connection to Copilot. If
you use iOS 18.3 and, as is expected, iOS 18.4 in April, you can enable Apple
Intelligence in Settings > Apple Intelligence and SIRI. Apple Intelligence uses
Chat GPT just as Copilot does, but there is no "linking" of Apple Intelligence
and Copilot.

Do. I need the password to establish that link?
Once again, no link between Copilot and Apple Intelligence exists so if you
simply want to use Apple Intelligence features with Siri and in whatever other
form they exist and are emerging with future iOS upgrades, you don't need your
Copilot password or even have the app installed on the iPhone. If you want to
use the Copilot app for iOS then you of course may want to sign in and possibly
you have to sign in (I haven't used it so not sure) and that is where the
password reset comes in.

I also now have the Microsoft Copilot app for the phone. I have a Microsoft 365
account I use for the laptop. Do I need to link to that account to make the
phone app operational?
Once again, I don't have the Copilot app and I am not necessarily looking to
install it since I have the Chat GPT app on my iPhone as well a Google Gemini
which is Google's AI and I find this to be quite sufficient. If I wanted to try
another AI app, I read that an app called Petey is supposed to be quite nice,
but it also uses Chat GPT so not exactly sure how it is different from the
actual Chat GPT app. I do, by the way, not subscribe to the $20 a month Chat
GPT pro plan since for the most part I am quite happy with what I get with the
free service.
