Well, it sounds like perhaps a time for a phone call with Apple Accessibility
where they could connect with you so they can see what is on your screen and
tell you when you are on the one to delete…

Though, I have heard now from several people that Apple Accessibility has gone
down hill.

Unless you can get sighted help more easily.

How frustrating. I’m glad I never use the App Library.

Sounds like a headache.

Joshua,

Unfortunately, when the App library was first created, a default setting was
for for new apps to be shown there instead of on home screens. I've got that
changed but I have installed apps that I want to get rid of that are only shown
within groups within the App library. I am unable to access those apps because
when I attempt to open the group they are in, they are presented graphically on
my screen and are inaccessible.

Alan, I never go in to the app library at all. I highly recommend you put some

It isn’t in your rotor, but if you go to the VoiceOver settings, VoiceOver
Recognition, Screen recognition, even if it is off there, there is a button to
list the apps that it is on for, I’d make sure there are no apps in there;
though since I never mess with the app library, maybe that isn’t even possible,
but just thought I would put in my 2¢ worth.

Sieghard,

Yes I'm sure screen recognition isn't on in the App library because on my
iPhone 13 Mini, screen recognition isn't even available in my rotor on that
screen. What device are you using since you aren't experiencing the same issue
I am and I suspect the issue might be different or nonexistent for newer
devices?

Thanks.

I have no issues reading or accessing apps from the App Library. I actually
don’t hardly ever use it, but just to be sure I went there now and I noticed a
folder called “Information and Reading, 9 items”. I double tapped on it and it
opened up and I get apps like Audible, Books, CBC News, ElevenReader. Also
listed are Google Translate, Translate, Merlin Bird Id, News and Stocks.

Subject: App library and accessing apps within groups which are presented
graphically and inaccessible to Voiceover

Hello List,

I’m running iOS 18.4 on an iPhone 13 Mini and am very concerned about results
I’m getting in the App Library. I would appreciate comments from other users
about their results and I’ll provide more details below.

As you know, the App Library is accessed as the last screen following your last
home screen. You swipe through your various home screens by placing focus on an
app on one of them and doing a 3 finger swipe left which will advance you to
the next home screen which will be announced as some number of a total by
Voiceover depending on how many apps are installed on your device. After you
land on the final number of your home screens, the next 3 finger swipe left
will place you on your App Library screen.

My App Library screen is a bit of a mess because I have over 300 apps installed
on my device. There doesn’t seem to be any order as to how things are presented
on the App Library screen. Some apps are listed individually and some are
presented in groups. The problem I’m experiencing is that if the app I’m
seeking is located in a group, opening that group presents a graphical screen
which is totally inaccessible to Voiceover. I’m curious whether those with
newer devices are experiencing the same thing or not. If you could access your
App Library, find the Utilities or some other group, and double tap to open it
and let me know if you are presented with an accessible screen or not where you
can take action on the individual apps there, I would very much appreciate it.
If you experience the same issue I am, you might find your device inaccessible
and if you have a device without a home button, you will need to access your
home screen by placing your finger in the bottom right corner of the screen and
slide up until you hear the first tone and release which should return you to
an accessible home screen.

If anyone can recommend how to remove an app that is only located within a
group in the App Library, I would very much appreciate it as I’m unable to
access edit mode in the screen presented graphically which is required in order
to take action on the app. I’m noticing that these graphical presentations are
starting to appear more frequently which should concern every Voiceover user. I
have already contacted Apple Accessibility to report this and urge others to do
the same. I welcome any comments about what others are experiencing with this
and thanks in advance for your feedback.
