Please give more information concerning the issue with your text messages when you swipe over a message is it saying hide alerts or something else happening if you have a finger on a particular message and you swipe up one of the actions is hide alerts that does not mean that alerts for this sender have been hidden. It is giving you the option to do so that is why when you selected it is saying notifications muted you do not want that settings selected otherwise you will not receive notifications for that particular sender.
