Hi Kevin,

Yes, going to the home screen first should work every time.

While you are in an app, it often doesn't work because that app forces you into
landscape or whatever, so best to jump to the home screen first.

Subject: A weird thing on the iPad 13 Pro to get screen sharing to work, and it
can be pretty frustrating.

Hi.

I got my iPad home from the Apple store after they set it up, and it had a
problem with something with the sensor on the Logitech keyboard which made it
tell the time every time it put the iPad to sleep. After hearing the time
spoken over and over for about 40 minutes, it got really old, and I’m sure the
Lyft driver wasn’t too happy either. I called up Apple, and had them check
things out. One of the first things theyj wanted to do is screen share. I’ve
done that plenty of times on my iPhone, so I was sure I knew what to do. They
sent the first confirmation screen, and I hit the accept button on the bottom
of the screen. Then the second screen appeared, and I found the agree part and
hit it. Nothing happened. I tried several times to get it to work, but it
didn’t It was then the dude on the phone said “Oh yeah, you need to get your
iPad in portrait orientation. I made sure the feature to lock the screen was
turned off, and tried to switch the orientation of the screen. After doing all
sorts of moving the iPad to almost every known way, including turning it upside
down, it took, and I could move on. I then went into the control panel and
turned the lock screen thingy on. Since then, I’ve had to do screen shares on
the iPad, and for some unknown reason, when I turn off the don’t change the
screen orientation, it doesn’t always work, and I’m basically stuck.

First, I called Apple and informed of this weird thing to get screen sharing to
work. Apple is aware of the problem, and I’m sure a solution will come out.
It’s an easy thing to fix, and once they do that, I can lock the screen, since
I can’t imagine any reason I’d want to type on the Magic Keyboard holding the
iPad sideways.

Now for a very basic question. Is there a simple way to get the orientation of
the iPad to change when I turn it to portrait? I think someone suggested going
to the home screen, and it worked, but I’m not so confident that will work. In
the end, I’ll do it, because what do I have to lose doing it?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.
