Yes, he also has Zoom enabled. Is he low-vision and can see the screen if it is magnified, which is what Zoom under accessibility is there for.
If so, when Zoom and VoiceOver are both on there are two important gestures that change for VoiceOver. 1. Toggle speech on and off, if Zoom and VoiceOver are on, the three finger double tap becomes a three finger triple tap, because Zoom uses the three finger double tap to increase and decrease the magnification. Well, actually it enables zoom and then if you slide your three fingers up or down the screen, it increases and decreases the zoom as you slide. 2. To toggle the screen curtain becomes a 3 finger quadruple tap because VoiceOver is now using the three finger triple tap for toggling speech on/off. I hope that helps. If he does not need to see the screen, he needs to go into settings, acccessibility and turn Zoom off. When I want to silence Voice Over, I use a 3 finger double tap. When he tries this, it results in some sort of magnification zooming in. He needs to do a 3 finger triple tap to silence Voice Over. 3 finger triple tapping for me results in screen curtain. Has anyone else heard of this sort of thing – another app using 3 finger double tap resulting in Voice Over needing a different way to silence? Also, when Voice Over is silent for him, if he moves his finger around the screen he feels a vibration. I don’t have that at all. Is this something that can be turned off?
