Hi.

I went to the Apple Store today, and they went way out of their way to help me
out. I learned that a USB hub probably won't work with my computers anymore,
but that's alright, since I have another one that will, and it's a port larger
than what I had. I also got my working with music on the files app sorted out,
and I'll post about that in another message. There's an odd thing happening
with how my iPad, iPhone and my Air Pads are working, and I'm beginning to
suspect something I'm doing for convenience could be at the heart of this issue.

One thing I'm looking forward to is the ability to be listening to my iPad
through my Air Pad Pro Max, a phone call comes through, and the call is routed
to the Air Pods. I need to explain what happened this past Wednesday. I went to
the grocery store, because that day of the week is when Sushi is discounted. I
was listening to a baseball game on my iPad through the Air Pods. I have a
Magic Keyboard hooked up to the thing, and was holding my iPad with it open.
Then I had a thought. When I close the case of the iPad, it makes the same
noise the iPhone does when you hit the lock button, and the audio I'm hearing
still plays. I wondered if the same thing would happen if I closed the case. I
tried it, and it worked the way I planned. I then got a call on my iPhone, and
the audio of the phone was routed to the Air Pods. I ended the call, and
thought the iPad audio would return, but it didn't. For some unknown reason,
the Air Pods were still linked to my phone, and if the iPod spoke, the audio
went through its speakers. I have no idea what I did, but I got all that sorted
out. This morning, paratransit got me to Mass over an hour early, so rather
than listen to the choir warm up and practice, I decided to tune something on
my iPad to pass the time. The goofy thing wouldn't switch to the iPad audio
being through the Air Pads. It kept going to the external speakers, and I'll
tell you, it reminds me of a Simpsons episode where Homer had the game on,
listening to it with headphones on. In the commercial for the episode, his team
won, and with shouts of joy, he let the church know his team won. Well, it was
kind of like that, except the iPad was doing all the shouting. I did some
examination, and got the audio through the Air Pods. I then heard some nice
things said by the Deacon, and learned something I didn't know. I then left
church and headed to the Apple Store. As I said, I can't thank them enough for
what I thought would sort out my problem of how audio worked on the devices.
They finished with me, and paratransit was there about 20 minutes early, so I
got a head start on getting home. I tuned into the NBA game, which went
terribly for me. Oh well, as Dad said, if you're going to do something, do it
right, and the Thunder did that to the wrong team. Oh well, it is what it is.
While I was headed home, I got a phone call from paratransit letting me know
I'd be picked up in a few minutes. Then the call ended, and the audio of the
game did not come back. I got home and got everything wired for sound. Mom
called me, and I can tell you things kind of worked the way I expected, because
a very loud announcement of her name came through my iPad speakers. When the
call ended, no switch to the game happened. This puzzled me, but then I had a
thought. It took the dude at the Apple Store to get things working the way I
expected, and, as the podcast I heard through Applevis it indicates both phone
and iPad have to be on the same WI-FI network. They weren't in the paratransit,
but at home they were, so I guess things are working the way they should,
except for that not switching back to what I was listening to. Then a thought
occurred to me. In the Apple Store, when all worked as expected, I had the
Magic Keyboard case open. When I got home, I closed the lid of the case. Could
that little difference be causing things to happen the way I'm describing? If
so, is there a quick way to get my streaming audio back? I'm really having fun
with this tech stuff, and I really am enjoying my iPad with the headphones. I
was originally going to sell the Air Pads to my Brother, but I think I'll keep
them because in terms of how long I can use them together, it's a pretty nice
length of time, and I'd rather use my Beats Studio Professional headphones with
my PC, since they have a longer battery life.

That's my saga for the day, pretty much. I'll post about the music situation in
another message.

Have a blessed day and don't work too hard.

Kevin, Jilly and soon to be back home, my shrimpy but very strong black lab Lily

P.S. I tried to send this through Applevis, but I'm not sure what to do to get
this working.
