My WhatsApp is up to date and the Send button is there, but it’s before the edit field. If you want to find it by swiping, then swipe left from your message field or you can just touch the screen on the very right above the keyboard.

When you send a message, you no longer see the send button. I think you can use screen recognition to get some stuff done, but you definitely do not see the edit box where you can type text. You will see the voice button the first time you attempt to send a message in a conversation or group since the update came out, but once you press that button you don't see anything else.
