Sure, you can press command-option-s to bring up the sidebar on the Mac. I'd try control-option-s in windows. I went to books in the sidebar, pressed the list radio button, and had a books table, too.
I wouldn't mind the new interface so much if it was more navigable with shortcut keys. I don't usually like to poke around spatially very much.
