Hello Max. The iPhone 17 does require a USB-C Connecter. When you get the iPhone a 1 metre cable with a USB-C plug on both ends will be in the box.
If you have a charger that takes a USB-A plug you can get cables with a USB-A on one end and a USB-C on the other. I have both kinds of cables that I received with different chargers. USB-C inputs are now standard with the newer iPhones. This makes sense as it is the standard which was set by the European Union. So we no longer have to put up with proprietary lightning cables for Apple devices. Hope this helps clarify things.
