The same thing was happening on trying to find the compose button, but then I stumbled across that from the home button of my SE2 that if I do a very slight slide and go to the right it seems like, then I can find the toolbar and where it says compose, and the same thing when I select messages to delete and go down to the bottom and do that very slight slide motion from the whome button where upon I get to the trash button.
