Hi Jim, As others have pointed out, one way is to go into Car Mode then find the search option. Another is if you touch the spot on the screen where the Car Mode button is, then slide your finger down enough to get off the Car Mode Button, but not so far as to get on the next button--so you are in the seemingly dead area of the screen and double tap, a search option will magically appear.
Actually, It is not very magical, it is just that they didn't label that spot on the screen. My sighted wife can see it, but nothing speaks when you touch that spot until you double tap.
