from ChatGPT:

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to customize the Lock Screen in iOS 26 using VoiceOver on your iPhone:

🔓 1. Go to the Lock Screen

Press the Side button (or tap the screen) to wake your iPhone.

Do not unlock it yet — stay on the Lock Screen.

🎨 2. Enter the Lock Screen customization mode

1. Touch and hold anywhere on the Lock Screen until you hear VoiceOver say:

“Edit button” or “Customize button.”

2. When you hear that, double-tap with one finger.

3. You’ll now be in the Lock Screen editing view where you can swipe through available lock screens.

🆕 3. Add a new Lock Screen (optional)

Swipe right until you hear “Add new Lock Screen, button,” then double-tap.

You’ll hear a list of wallpaper types, such as:

Photos

Emoji

Astronomy

Weather

Color

Swipe through and double-tap the one you want.

✏️ 4. Customize elements

Once you choose or open an existing Lock Screen, you can:

Change wallpaper:

Swipe until you hear “Choose a new photo” or “Customize wallpaper,” then double-tap.

Edit widgets:

Swipe until you hear “Add widgets, button,” then double-tap to choose from widgets like Weather, Battery, Calendar, etc.

Use a one-finger swipe left/right to explore widgets.

Double-tap to add one.

Change clock font and color:

Swipe until you hear “Customize clock,” then double-tap.

Swipe through available font styles and colors.

Double-tap to select your preference.

🧭 5. Save and Set

When you’re done, swipe until you hear “Done, button,” then double-tap.

You’ll hear options like:

“Set as Wallpaper Pair” (for both Lock and Home Screen)

“Customize Home Screen separately”

Double-tap your preferred option.

💡 Tips for VoiceOver users

Use a three-finger swipe up or down to scroll through wallpaper choices.

If VoiceOver becomes unresponsive during customization, press the Side button once to return to the Lock Screen, then try again.

You can switch Lock Screens anytime by touching and holding the Lock Screen and swiping left/right to choose one.

Would you like me to include how to link a Focus mode (like Sleep or Work) to a Lock Screen using VoiceOver as well?

Sieghardt, sorry to be a pain, but because this is from copilot, it explains how a sightling would do it. It seems that voiceover is not quite the same. No matter what I try and double tap and hold on, I don’t get the desired result, even if i double tap and hold on the time. Has anybody on this list ever actually done this? I know I did it when iOS 18 came out, but that was over a year ago, and I can’t remember what I did.

Alex, complete instructions from Copilot below. I made sure this works and it does, double tap and hold on the lock screen, e.g. on the time, then swipe right until you find “Customize” and double tap.

Next swipe past all the stuff like the Calendar widget, clock widget, the Add Widget button, Depth effect and Appearance button.

Once you get to Flashlight (if you haven’t change it previously), you have a “Remove Flashlight button, after you remove it you can add something else.

In "iOS 26", Apple has introduced several new features to make your iPhone lock screen more customizable and visually dynamic. Here's a step-by-step guide to editing your lock screen:

How to Enter Lock Screen Edit Mode

1. "Wake your iPhone" (press the power button).

2. "Touch and hold" the lock screen until the customization gallery appears.

3. Tap "Customize" to edit an existing lock screen, or tap the "+" icon to create a new one.

Choose a Wallpaper"

You can select from:

- "Featured": Curated photos and Apple wallpapers.

- "Photo Shuffle": Rotating images from your library.

- "Spatial Scenes": 3D-like wallpapers that shift with phone movement (requires iPhone 12 or newer).

- "Weather & Astronomy": Dynamic wallpapers based on real-time conditions.

- "Emoji, Kaleidoscope, Unity": Fun and expressive designs.

To apply "Spatial Scene effects":

- Go to "Settings > Wallpaper > Choose New Wallpaper".

- Select a photo and toggle on "Spatial Scene".[1](https://www.ithinkdiff.com/ios-26-lock-screen-guide/)

Customize the Clock

- Tap the clock to "resize" it using the handle at the bottom-right.

- Choose between "Glass" (translucent) or "Solid" styles.

- Adjust "font weight" and "color" to match your wallpaper.[2](https://allthings.how/how-to-customize-ios-26-lock-screen-clock-size-translucent-icons-and-message-backgrounds/)

Add and Arrange Widgets

- Tap the "widget area" to add items like Weather, Calendar, Battery, etc.

- You can now place widgets "above or below" the clock for better layout control.[1](https://www.ithinkdiff.com/ios-26-lock-screen-guide/)

Quick Controls"

- Replace the default "Flashlight/Camera" shortcuts with others like Calculator or Shortcuts.

- Tap the "–" symbol next to a shortcut to change it.[3](https://lifehacker.com/tech/all-the-ways-you-can-customize-your-lock-screen-in-ios-26)

Appearance Settings"

- Choose "Light", "Dark", or "Automatic" mode for your lock screen.

- Toggle "Depth Effects" for wallpapers with prominent subjects.

Can someone please remind me how to edit the apps on the lock screen, it’s a year since I’ve done it, and I can’t remember the details.

And if you wanted, you could add the Reminders app as one of the two items you can have on the lock screen, I believe by default it's Camera and Flashlight, but since iOS 18, this can be customized.
I have Voice Memos there as one item and a simple double tap on that on the lockscreen will start recording a voice note. Double tap again and it stops.

Tracy,
I don't know of a sticky note feature, but do use the reminders app all the time. You can just tell Siri, "remind me tomorrow morning,  take out trash" or something like that.  I like to put a pause between the command for the reminder and what I want the reminder to say.  Saying "tomorrow morning" generally puts the pop up at 7:00 AM You can also tell Siri an exact time such as "remind me tomorrow at 8:15 AM" I rarely type a reminder especially if I want it at a specific time.

Hello all,

What is your favorite way to have a sticky note or quick reminder on the lock screen. I know that I could create future reminders, but that is a bit cumbersome. I’m looking for something quick and easy that will be on the lock or home screen for the following day.

Thank you,
Traci
