Seeing AI has always defaulted to reading whatever the camera sees. When I first got it when it first came out, many years ago, I tested it while riding in a car and pointed it out the passenger.
Window. It read the side of a van which was a plumming business including the phone number. I pointed it out the front window when we were stopped and it read the sign ahead… It has only gotten better as they added more features and improved them, but even now with all the other features, if you don't change anything, it defaults to reading whatever the camera sees. If you move, it may start reading again or catch something else, so once it starts reading what you want, if you set the phone down so the camera cannot see anything or cover the lens it will read whatever it saw to the end. Sounds pretty much like the same operation. You have other choices with seeing AI, like describe or whatever. But if you choose the correct tab to start with, it opens to that every time and you pretty much do what you describe. Hold your camera over whatever it is you’re trying to read and it reads it however perfectly or imperfectly.
